Israel Cooper

Director

Israel Cooper

Israel Cooper co-founded Home Construction in 2020 and leads the governance and strategic direction behind an organisation built to close New Zealand's housing shortfall, one well-delivered project at a time.

Before construction, Israel spent years in corporate finance and public sector advisory at PricewaterhouseCoopers and held senior roles across the technology sector. He sits on the boards of the Canterbury Regional Basketball Foundation and Parachute Music, and is a member of the Institute of Directors, governance experience he brings directly to steering Home Construction, the building arm of the wider Home Group. He writes regularly on construction productivity, affordability, and what it would take at a system level for New Zealand to build significantly more of the housing it needs.

He is a Certified Practicing Accountant and is currently completing a Master of Arts in Leadership, Theology, and Society at Regent College, with a capstone focused on housing.

Outside of work, Israel is husband to Jessica and father to Zion, Alethia, and India.
